Hi there, firstly thank you for your help and for being active to support your plugin – much appreciated! And secondly, apologies if this particular questions has already been asked/resolved – please feel free to point me in that direction. I did check through the forum but could not see a resolution to this particular problem.

My site is using version 2.6.3 of the plugin, and this is the issue I’m experiencing:

My posts reorder fine both front and back end for the first 20 posts that are loaded by default on the sorting page. If I increase the slider or manually type in the number of posts to show (in my test case, I have 66 posts), then they do load and it does let me drag and drop those posts to other positions (I am trying to get the last post – number 66 – into number 1 position). After I have moved post 66 up to the first position (I am manually dragging and dropping it up there, I couldn’t get the option to ‘Move items to rank’ to work) then I go to the frontend and refresh – and there is no change. And when I go back to the backend, it has reverted back to the first 20 posts and my sorting has not saved.

I noticed that even just expanding the number of posts to show all of them (66) and then going to another tab, and then back to the sorting page – the posts have reverted back to the first 20. So it doesn’t seem like I can do anything with the posts after the first initial 20 that load.

I have checked the console and there is no JS error on the page.

I have seen some comments about reverting to an older version of the plugin, which I will consider, but wondered if you might be able to help me figure out this issue?

    Many thanks!

I couldn’t get the option to ‘Move items to rank’ to work

oh? that’s interesting. Are you getting an error when you use this functionality? Can you check your javascript console for possible errors?

when I go back to the backend, it has reverted back to the first 20 posts and my sorting has not saved.

I see, that’s not good. It’s quite possible there is still some issues there. Let me rerun some test on large posts sorting.

I noticed that even just expanding the number of posts to show all of them (66) and then going to another tab, and then back to the sorting page – the posts have reverted back to the first 20. So it doesn’t seem like I can do anything with the posts after the first initial 20 that load.

no this is simply the page reloading to pick up potentially newly published posts, although it would be nice to reload with your previous count!

I have checked the console and there is no JS error on the page.

ok, this includes the ‘move to rank’ functionality?

I have seen some comments about reverting to an older version of the plugin, which I will consider, but wondered if you might be able to help me figure out this issue?

if you are in a hurry to sort your posts, I would suggest v1.8.1, but if you can wait a few days, I will revet back.

Thank you for getting back to me!

I have checked the ‘Move items to rank’ functionality again, and this time I was able to get to work, so perhaps I was using this incorrectly. I filtered my posts range from 66-66, so it just showed the last post and then I put 1 in the field to move the rank – and this worked and moved that post into the first position in my order, and it saved on the frontend too. So that function does seem to be working, so my apologies for claiming it wasn’t, but I think I didn’t figure out how to make it work properly. I understand now (if I am correct) that you must only filter the range of posts that you wish to move to another rank.

This might be enough to get it working for now (but a little annoying if you have to know the number of each post to move and to which numbered rank) – it would be great if you could expand the posts to show the complete number of posts and simply use the drag and drop to reorder.

I look forward to any updates on that if you manage to run some testing on larger post numbers and see if there are any issue.

    Thanks again for your help!

Hi again, I just wanted to send another update to let you know that I’m still having some issues with this and the ‘Move items to rank’ option.

If I change my post range from 1-1 to just show the first post, and then change the rank to 2, I get the error “Chose a rank either below or above your current displayed range where you wish to insert your select items.”

This also happens if I try to move the last post (number 66) to another position.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Thank you

Apologies for the alte reply, I have been busy with work.

So I finally got round the testing this functionality again, and its working just fine on my test server.

If I change my post range from 1-1 to just show the first post, and then change the rank to 2, I get the error “Chose a rank either below or above your current displayed range where you wish to insert your select items.”

I think I know where you are going wrong. You need select some posts (click on a post, ctrol+click to select more than one, shift+click to select a whole range) and then enter the rank to which you want to move the post(s) to.

Hi, I am assuming the above worked for you and I marking this as resolved.
