Issue on sorting options

I am sorry to read about your issue. To start off with, can you please tell us what version of WordPress, PHP and the plugin that you are using?

Also, can you try this on a browser in Incognito mode? Can the problem be reproduced then?

And, if you try to sort out the activity log by event ID, or by user, does the same problem happen?

As you asked we’re using following versions of
Wordpress – 5.9
PHP – 7.4.21
WP Activity Plugin – 4.3.4

I tried it in incognito mode and sorted out by event ID or by user but issue is still there.

Please look into it.

Thank you for the update. We need you to run two tests:

Test 1:
1) Launch the browser developer tools
-Chrome: https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools
– Firefox: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools
2) Click on the Console tab
3) Reproduce the issue
4) Send us a screenshot or copy the errors that are reported in the Console tab to [email protected]

Test 2:
If there are no errors in the console, please:
1) Enable WordPress debug and the debug log file
2) Reproduce the issue
3) Disable the debug
4) Send us the debug.log file from the wp-content directory to [email protected].

I installed a fresh wordpress with only wp activity plugin in it. issue is still there.

1. on reproducing issue i found nothing in console tab in google chrome.
2. after enabling debug log. found no debug.log file in wp-content directory.

could you please check from your end if you’re facing same issue or not?

We can confirm that the sorting of any column on a vanilla install works. This seems something very specific to your environment. In this case we’ll need more information. Thank you for sending over the file. Based on what we have seen there is nothing that could affect the behaviour of the plugin. However, there is something with the sorting URL.

In your first post you said that when you try to sort the events it redirects to this URL: /wp-admin/admin.php?orderby=user&order=desc

That URL has a missing parameter, which is highlighted in this URL: /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wsal-auditlog&orderby=user&order=desc

It seems like you have something that is truncating / changing that URL, something that maybe rewrites the URL.

Do you have any plugins or customization that might be doing this?

We’re testing this use case on clean WordPress (default theme – twenty twenty one) & no plugins except WP activity log & latest WordPress version i.e 5.9.2

And unfortunately, it still redirects to :/wp-admin/admin.php?orderby=user&order=desc instead of URL: /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wsal-auditlog&orderby=user&order=desc

Problem is still there. I’ll suggest to check from your side and help us with this.

Thank you for the update. Have you tried this on the same web server? If yes, can you please try on a different web server?

This could be a web server / URL redirect config issue.

We tried same thing on localhost as well as digital ocean server. issue is still there.

Also we tried on clean WordPress i.e default theme + no other plugins and issue is still there.

Meanwhile, when we make changes in theme settings. we’re not getting any logs. is it possible to get logs if someone make changes in theme settings?

Thank you for the update. I am sorry to read that the URL issue persists. Please refer to our last support ticket email for more information on how to troubleshoot the issue.

Regarding the theme settings, the plugin does not keep a lot of changes done in third party themes settings by default. In your case you need to create an activity log extension.
