issue linking google search console with yoast SEO

Hi

I have an issue with yoast SEO plugin trying to link the google search console with the meta tag verification.

Pasting the code did nothing within the yoast plugin as it didn’t write the meta tag below the header.

I had to do it manually myself however i dont know whether where i put it (directly below the head) is the same place where yoast would have put it?

Will this stop yoast being able to use the google search console or manage it for me?

I gave yoast the authorization on the other part of the plugin but i am not getting any search console errors listed which makes me think it isnt working.

Does anyone know whether it makes a difference where the meta tag is posted under the header for yoast to be able to take control?
