[Issue] Dropdown value can’t be displayed in the frontend/backend

  • Hi Ovann, I’ve got a problem about the value display in dropdown list addon: After I check the ‘display value’ option, the entry detail in the admin panel and frontend like gravityview still shows the label, and it doesn’t work even if I use the mergetag modifier {:value}…

    The only exception I found is when I use html content like , the frontend will display the image.

    Is this a rare case? Please help me out with this ??

    Hey,

    I didn’t realise that the default behaviour for the standard ‘drop down’ field is so the value is displayed — not the label, where ‘display value’ is enabled.

    Im thinking these need to operate in the same way but I may need to think it over for a short while to see how that may affect my projects that rely on this plugin.

    Im thinking I should either.
    1. change is so it behaves the same as the standard drop down field – VALUE is displayed unless in ‘edit’ mode.
    2. add another option to allow people to choose if the value or the label is displayed when in ‘view’ mode. Which isn’t what GF offers, but I see is what GV offers.

    1 would be easier and more in line with the standard behaviour but Im not sure if it’ll break things for people that are already used to this non-standard behaviour … difficult decision.

    Any thoughts on how to precede?

    Hi Ovann,
    I believe it’s better to choose the 2nd, but it indeed requires so many additional thoughts, because it’s not as simple as adding a {:value} modifier to the mergetag, right?

    If you can achieve the 1st option, I think it’ll suffice in current situation ??
