“is_user_logged_in” not working / Sandbox framework

Hello.

I’m building a site on WordPress and using the Sandbox framework for theme. I came across a problem where “is_user_logged_in” never returns “true”. I’m trying to place a Log in link in the footer. If the user is logged in it should display the alternate Log out link. For some reason “is_user_logged_in” seems to always return false.

Also when logged in the theme seems unaware of the logged in status – this is apparent when there are no “Edit” links visible and even the comments box asks for your name instead of displaying the logged in name.

Any help on the matter will be appreciated – the deadline for the site is in couple of days ! ??
