    Is there anyway to use WP without using code? Code may be “poetry” but I am illiterate. Nor do I want to take the time to learn. I seem to be unable to ask any questions of the codex that give me answers without using code. Why not just drop down menus? I suppose WP may not be for me. I am angry and frustrated. WP is not as “easy” as everyone but me seems to think. Here’s an example: I ask the codex, “How do I put sliders on internal pages?” I get nothing but coding answers. How hard is it to put a drop down menu somewhere letting me put sliders in internal pages? Maybe it’s hard. I don’t know.

    If WP is not for me I’d like to know. Thanks.

    If you are looking for a platform to publish content i.e. words, then WordPress is perfect for you and you do not need any coding. You install, do some minor configuration such as your WordPress blog’s name and start publishing.

    That is also a great use case for WordPress.COM blogs or any managed WordPress service.

    If you are looking for extra functionality such as sliders then that’s really a coding question and you’ll get a coding answer. Even the most basic slider will require at least a short code in your post or page.

    The WordPress software as a platform is developing and getting easier. But to go beyond the basics your being able to understand some coding will help you get the results you want.

    Thank you, Jan. I am an artist and need more than content with words. I’ve been trying to understand WP for a year or so (with much time to cool down between banging my head against various walls). Of course if I could afford it I’d just hire someone to build my site. I guess the thing that angers me the most is how just about everywhere I look I am told WP is easy. It is easy, perhaps, with certain caveats, like, “for people who understand coding.” Which is a major caveat. I feel like I’ve wasted a year of my life on this.

    Thanks again for your reply.

    @username5billion387millionand2,

    There are many features that you can add to your website built with WordPress without knowing any code.

    However this would take research into the proper theme and its compatibility with any plugins you may need.

    I know many people that build websites professionally using this approach and never write one line of code. However they have spent the time to learn WordPress instead.
