I need to develop a single-page site for a client. I normally use WP as a CMS for small business websites. This client would like to be able to update content. And I like using plugins such as Contact Form 7. Would WP be overkill for a single-page site, though?

  • It’s up to you really.

What are you more comfortable with? I use WP for everything, so I would lean that way

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. I love using WP and am very comfortable with it. I guess it doesn’t matter!

Do you have Dreamweaver? If it′s just one page you could throw together a simple html-document pretty quickly.

It could depend on just how complicated your single page is!

@loke I can hand-code HTML/CSS very competently, I don’t like to use Dreamweaver. I could easily create a one-page site. However, my client would be able to update easily with WP and I prefer not to create my own PHP contact form. Unless someone can point to a great form solution. I like the contact form plugins for WP.

I’m definitely with you that WP may be the way to go, especially for a client. Keep things nice and simple.

Plus, 9 times out of ten, a 1 page website tends to grow in scope as a client changes their mind…. WP makes it easy to expand eh?

    Exactly.

Yes- it would depend on how complicated your one-page is but it sounds like it wouldn’t be too complicated. I tend to use WP for everything as well.
On the other hand, I used cushy cms for a client that wanted to be able to edit her site but didn’t want to move her existing site to Worpress. There are probably other like this service.
    And a Form Solution: jotform.com
