• Forgive me as I am fairly new to WordPress. I’ve set up a couple simple WordPress sites, but I have a new project that *i think* will require 3 separate blogs and I’m not too sure how to go about doing this with WordPress.

I’m working on a website for a new drink. I’ll need to have several static pages, but there are three sections where I’d like to have a blog type format: News, Events and Recipes (a place where users can post their own articles).

Here are wireframes to show you what I mean:
    Home
    News
    Events
    Recipes

I’ve done some research and it looks like there are a couple options for multi-blog use with wordpress, but I’m not sure which would be best for my situation. Or, would this work better in another platform like Joomla or Drupal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Katie

  • ok, well why do you think you need more than wordpress blog for this?

news, events, and recipes are all categories .. done. right? or no?

I second that. What’s been said here is that these would fit into the layout as categories. Under these you would write your content to fit one of your categories. After you select which catagory you want to post the article under, it will display on that “page” when you click the link.

This is mostly why I wish there where more control over what gets laid in what’s supposed to be the prominent navigation in a site via the admin panel.

A lot of people seem to want what ends up being the catagory across the top of the site while having the “pages” in either the left or right hand subcolumn.

Not tying to hijack the thread, sorry.

Is there a work around then to use categories as a page within the main navigation? I’ve tried the Category Page Plugin, but it doesn’t seem to be working for me. Not sure if its because I am on Thematic or am using WordPress 2.8.4.

Any suggestions on how to link categories to my pages?

Here is how I have it set up so far:
