• Is it safe to update now? I have all sites with WP Statistics still running on the old version 12.6.13

Because I updated one site to version 13.0.x and there were still issues with the WP Rest API and also some Critical Error when updating….

So had to roll everything back.

Now I don’t see many threads talking about problems, so can the anyone confirm is it safe now?

  • In my opinion it is not safe. I had to deactivate the plugin in december 2020 because my site went down. Three months late i activated it again, but two hour later my site went down again. Now I have given up on WP Statistics, it is too risky. I use Google Analytics now and I am very happy.

The reason for the unstable plugin in my case might be that I have over 3000 posts in my site.

It is interesenting to hear what other users think.

It just occured to me that you might have to deactive the plugin, then delete the plugin and install a fresh new version of WP Statistics. In my case, I am not willing to take the risk. How about other users? What is your experience?

Maybe you are right @aegirr i have on my page more then 6.000 Posts and i run always into errors and database crash as soon i update higher then 12.6.13…

But the Programmer did not reply to this, so o don’t know if that could force the problem.

So for me i still stay at 12.6.13…

It seems that some users are having nothing but trouble and it seems that this plugin is effected by a certain amount of posts. Unfortunately there is no support here. It seems that the developers dont read this forum.

    This sounds bad.

But I’m also thinking how safe is it to keep on running the 12.6.13 version because it’s already “outdated” a lot.

The developers probably screwed up with the 13.x.x versions but don’t want to admit it.

By the way, is there any way to safely delete the plugin as well as the database space that it takes up? As I think this plugin uses some tablebases of its own which slowly takes up disk space on your hosting.

I have only deactivated the plugin, not deleted it. I have had no trouble since. It never occured to me that deleting it might upset the database. Anyone have that experience?
