Is unkown file in wp-admin/.rnd good or bad?

    Hi,
    Wordfence high severity scan shows “unknown file in wp-admin/.rnd”. By clicking “see file” within wordfence scan, it is full of weird and chinese characters

    we have on this website updraft plugin. Reading this thread .rnd is created by Updraft. Is this file good or is it malicious?

    Hi,

    PHP creates this file is you use certain random-number related functions, such as in encryption. If you delete it, then PHP will add it back again whenever such functions are next needed. As such, the long-term solution is to get Wordfence to stop flagging it up as any sort of potential problem, since it’s a normal part of using many PHP programs that want to use random numbers.

    It is safe and not a threat.
