• I have looked around (for over a year now), trying to find ‘the right plugin’ for us to help manage an event we hold. Events Manager was recommended to me – but it was by someone who I don’t think quite understood our event or what we are wanting to accomplish (he seemed more interested in showing off the whiz-bang of his site). So with that in mind, let me explain who we are and what we are doing:

Our organization is a beekeeping club. Small, community group type organization. Once per year we hold a “beekeeping school” as a fund raiser for one of the activities our club sponsors (a youth beekeeper program). The event is an all-day event.

    • We charge $50 for a single individual, $80 for a couple, and $15 for extra kids
    • FOR EACH person coming, we need a first & last name, as well as a city, state (for name tags)
    • We provide lunch. We do not charge extra, but we do need to get a count for what type of lunch EACH PERSON wants.
    • During registration time, we give people the opportunity to buy beehive boxes. They simply tell us how many they want.
    • During registration time, we also give people the opportunity to buy t-shirts. If they want to buy t-shirts, they need to give us sizes.

Last, if they want to join the club, we need to open a new tab, taking them to the membership application page.

Below is a sample of what I envision the registration page looking like (using dropdowns & checkboxes where appropriate):

SO – is this the plugin I need? If not, what SHOULD I use?

    So, you are:
    – managing events
    – selling things
    – managing club membership
    – and I suppose you need to manage mailings

Do you have a blog, which is presumably the reason for using WordPress in the first place?

You might think of separate plugins for each function, if you are tied to WordPress. Otherwise, look at the organization management software.

Not to put down Events Manager, but I recommend you try out Events Made Easy also, which is since log a an active developped and well suported fork that allows (far) more customization of bookingforms etc.

@txfig Events Manager could do most of the things you want to out-of-the-box by using tickets for the things you want to sell.

That said, the booking form you’re suggesting is pretty precise and would require custom coding on your part to get it to look exactly like that.

I think that’s likely to be the case with any events plugin.

Josiah S. Carberry: No, we do not have a “blog”. It is what I would call a typical “club website”. Specifically, it’s
    https://www.bvbeeks.org/

ikookmaar: Thanks, I’ll give it a look

caimin_nwl: Strangely enough, we used the “Simple PayPal plugin” last year – and it ALMOST did everything we wanted. If that could do it, I am surprised that a plugin designed for events would be that much more complicated.
