Is this possible? Regarding news and linking

  • I’m currently working on a large site project and need to know if there might be a plugin for this or if I need to get one developed.

    Basically, on the homepage the site displays a lot of content from other sites and shows maybe 1 or 2 paragraphs then links to the site where the “Read More” link would be.

    BUT, we would also like to show our own stories and have “Read More” take you to the wordpress page with the story…

    Maybe a custom excerpt function that is used by some stories?

    Is there anything to accomplish this? Know any good work arounds?

  • with PHP you could truncate the content you are importing based on number of characters.

    for your wordpress content, you can display just the excerpt or up to the <!--more--> QuickTag:

    <?php the_content('Read more...'); ?>
