• Okay, here’s what I want: Anyone can view most of my blog without logging in at all. But I want to keep my pictures section available only to people who are logged in (and anyone can register). My pictures plugin (Aniga) has a way to set the user level, but I’m not exactly sure how to assign them.

Here’s the other thing: I want to have one particular category that is only viewable by a few select people. But I don’t want these people to be able to post or do anything else but read posts in this “secret” category.

Is this possible? Do I need a special plugin? If not, can someone walk me through it, or point me to something that will?

Anyone? From what I can tell, it looks like I can only have one level (subscriber) before giving abilities to write posts (contributer). I need 2 levels of subscriber–one that can just see the pictures, and another that can see secret posts/categories.

Is there no way to do this?

Hi Lollymom — you might want to check out PostLevels: https://fortes.com/projects/wordpress/postlevels

It doesn’t support filtering by category (you have to manually mark the posts as private) — but I’m planning on doing that for the next version.
