    Hey everyone, I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction. I am starting a music publishing company and I am looking for a CMS with the following capabilities and requirements.

    1)XHTML Standards compliant
    2)User registration system
    3)A searchable catalog that will yield results based on user-entered criteria.
    4)Results include name, artist, label, and sample mp3.
    5)Easily updatable entries into catalog
    6)Ability for users to save search song information in there account so they can review it at any time.

    I like wordpress and I am sure there are probably CMS that are more suited for a project like this but I just want to know if it’s possible and if so how difficult. It’s a pretty large catalog I want users to be able to search (50,000+ entries). Thanks – Bill

    And you need a huge database + a very reliable server.

    Thank you so much. I guess everything looks ok except the user defined criteria and saving searches. I am not sure I worded the 2 “no’s” correctly

    – Have multiple fields like “title”, “keywords”, “artist”, “genre” etc on the search page and the user can search using one of those fields or all of those fields?

    – Can there be in option in every entry that says “save this entry”? When the user clicks on this option the info is somehow stored in the users profile?

    Search. WP’s basic (out-of-the-box) search works for words in posts. That’s it.
    There are plugins that enable search:
    – in Pages
    – and custom field values

    BUT as far as I know there is no search facility/plugin that allows search within an earlier search result (= narrowing a search)

    Saving in profile. – NO.

    I have been looking at posts and on the net trying to find something along these lines (a cataloging plugin or the codes to create this functionability on wordpress). I want to build a film database with wordpress for a small movie studio, but there are over 1,000 films for our sales dept… :/

    I was wondering if there is a catalog plugin, or just how to achieve those functions that were “ok’d” in the above mention post?

    would like to list:
    director
    actors
    poster image
    availability of film for distributing country
    running time
    year
    genres (multiple if nessesary)

    in each listing and be able to search them by thumbnail and name displayed or some short tinee descripton.

    Any feed back would be great. I’m obviously in over my head here… just really enjoy using wordpress and would like to try this on wordpress.

    BTW any one hear or have the “movie catalog” plugin by https://www.babatatas.com/?p=25 ?
