Is this plugin discontinued?
-
I could not believe that Lingotek for Polylang was completely broken after the installation in one of my main sites
I contacted support ([email protected]) 1 week ago without answers, so I decided to create a sandbox site and test it more adequately.
Now I find that it seems to work just fine with some caveats.
What it does is the following:
1. You create a new post and it offers you the option to upload it.
2. Then you can download it in other languages, and by default it will automatically translate with machine translation software.
3. After that I tried to edit the original text and the “upload” button appeared again, and was able to upload, and then download the new translation. So far so good. Machine translation seems to work flawlessly (at least with the classic editor as I have tested so far)
But one of my main intents was manually translating posts with some collaborators of mine or even with other professional translators that Lingotek could provide in the future. And also having some sort of control of the posts I published (and the edits going on), like a typical Translation Management System (TMS).
So after further looking into the Lingotek documentation, it seems that they have two modes:
1. Machine Translation (by default)
2. Lingotek Professional TranslationIf I activate the Lingotek Professional Translation, it firstly prompts for a “payment information” modal, and after proceeding with the next button, automatically everything breaks down.
First it redirects to a payment portal and after 2 seconds, it leads to a broken 302 loop page that says:
This page isn’t working
dashboard.lingotek.com redirected you too many times.
Try clearing the cookies.I’ve tried doing this even in an Incognito Chrome window (to have no cookies at all) but same result: Too many times redirection
But what I find wrong, is not only this error.
I find wrong, that I don’t want to start using professional translation services. I would like to start translating by myself first a few posts to see how it works the Translation Management System and see if it fits my needs
Secondly I would like to introduce some of my collaborators in my team to see if everything is fine and everybody is happy
And finally I would like to have the option to translate some posts with professional services that Lingotek provide. What I am missing in all this thing?
At least I know there is someone behind this because Beau Gardner answered me some days ago. Hope to know more about all this soon.
