  • Hey [email protected],

Thanks for posting to the forum. I definitely can understand the concern over that unexpected error.

While the plugin is currently listed as being compatible with versions of WordPress up to 3.7.1, I’ve personally utilized it with 3.9.2 without problems. To make sure this isn’t more of a local issue with that particular WordPress install, can you let us know if it helps to disable all other plugins, 1-by-1? I noticed that the provided URL led to that “cheatin huh” error message, which we’ve seen occur from conflicts with other plugins.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi,

I am running into this same issue and I do not have any older versions of EmailChimp. Also, 4.0 is the latest version.

    Please advise.

    Thanks

    Hey cfspod,

Thanks for hopping into the forum.

I haven’t personally been able to replicate any issues with utilizing the plugin with 4.0. That said, was it helping to disable any other plugins within your dashboard? If not, may we have the URL for your site, along with the EepURL for the signup form currently connected to the plugin?

Thanks. I just added the plugin today, so I don’t actually have any older versions. I getting this error when I click “Connect to ChimpMail” and it uses a social proxy of sorts it looks like. I’ve tried on three different browser types too.

The site is https://www.comedyfoodsports.com and I’m not sure what EepURL is.

    Thanks!

Plugin is not compatible with version 4. It works on the older versions but not the lasted one. I’m getting the same error mentioned at the beginning of the thread.

I’m getting the same error as the OP, on 2 different development sites, both before and after the 4.0 update to WordPress. (Can’t point you to those dev sites since they are password protected until development is complete, but I’ve tried removing the passwords briefly to test this, and there is no difference – I still get the error.)

Very keen to hear of a resolution on this! ??

EDIT: Correction, it’s a 500 error only without the passwords. 401 otherwise, which I think is to be expected.

Had all my plugins disabled, still giving the 500 error. Seems to be the compatibility issue with the latest WP.

I am having a similar issue.

    Hey everybody,

Thanks for contributing to the thread.

While I wasn’t experiencing the issue after initially upgrading to WP 4.0, I’ve since begun to receive a similar error message. As a result, we’ve gone ahead and escalated the issue to our plugin developers.

I’ll continue to provide updates on the response to this issue. If you have access to an older version of WordPress, a temporary downgrade back to 3.9.2 may work, but that could come with its own set of problems and probably isn’t ideal. Otherwise, you might try temporarily adding the embed code for your list to a text editor on your site. While that code isn’t optimized for WP, it may be a good short-term solution. Here’s an article from MailChimp’s KB that explains how to locate that embed code in your MC account:

Add a Signup Form to Your Website: https://eepurl.com/gOGN

We do greatly appreciate your patience as we look into things from our end. I’ll post again to the forum with an update.

    Hi all,

I’m getting the same error as the OP, also when I try to click “Connect to ChimpMail” from the plugin settings. This is happening on two new 4.0 wordress.org installs. Across browsers.

My auth info is correct, I’ve double and triple checked on the MailChimp site.

I contacted MailChimp support and they sent me to this thread.

Between raazxplorer(op), cfspod, divashadow, cwm00, gorgi888, fujidreams, and myself — SEVEN (7) independent people. I think we can confidently say there is an actual issue, whether or not it can be quickly reproduced.

mc_elliot — Did you try reproducing the error by using WordPress 4.0? That is probably the problem. Can I expect a fix quickly, or should I move to another MailChimp plug in — because I’m not going to revert to an earlier WP version =p

Looking forward to hearing updates on this issue! Cheers!

    Hey kaitlyn_!

It looks like your post came right after mine. While I wasn’t able to originally replicate in 4.0, I’ve since begun to experience the same error when trying to reconnect my account. I’ve gone ahead and escalated the issue to our Plugin Devs, and I’ll provide an update once we have more information.

    Hey everybody!

Thanks so much for all your patience. We’ve been communicating with the plugin developers about this issue, and we expect an update to the plugin to be forthcoming. I’ll reply again once the new version becomes available.

same issue here on a live site – sorry for posting in the old thread!

    Hi,
Just adding to this thread so I receive the replies/notifications. I also receive this error – so will appreciate the solution!
