• I have three running websites running an Envision theme…..all three of these sites have two things in common…they are running this plugin (updated from existing installs) and the Envision theme. All of a sudden yesterday, all of my media files disappear from the WordPress control panel under Media…..On the server they are still there though. The other two site I had to manually re-upload each file and relink them.
On the third site which this is happening right now…..it seemed progressive…the site logo was gone, then on one of the pages some where gone…so, I removed your plugin (uninstalled right away). I am now testing to see if that is what was somehow getting into the database and doing some sort of redirect.

for ME, that seems to be what is going on…..not sure about the other gents that posted up…..no hurry on my end as I fixed what I needed to fix for now….I am going to do a fresh install of 3.01+ on my site and see if thing work ok….

Hi, all of our items in the media library disappeared last saturday morning. We had to upload all of them again. We dont have this issue on any other site that uses the same theme och set of plugins, this site is the only one with this plugin. We really thought the site was hacked so I’m glad to hear it has probably something to do with the plugin. We have now updated (yesterday) to the latest version 3.01 and so far so good.

My site with over 50 posts (its new) experienced the same fate as these others…. after upgrading to the latest version advertised… everything vanished the next morning… Gone. I just spent the last 8 hours restoring every image through several different third party plugins… i also downgraded the this plugin… Brother sorry to say, i wish i never upgraded. My hosting company was baffled and tried everything…

Please fix. I really love what you do!

Thank God I am not alone. I have been experiencing this every night where posts, pages, images and even the logo keep disappearing. I have used this plugin now with great success over the last two years and Allen has been great with ongoing updates and support. I am hoping for a resolution soon.

I just did a re-test on my site….I had deleted the plugin (which is supposed to remove everything from the DB) and reinstalled 3.01. As soon as I hit GET POSTS, it “deleted” all my theme linked images and even some hand-coded img reference links. It seems when I looked at the hand coded pages, the links had an added numbered to the file name which basically referenced nothing. I.e. /wp-content/uploads/07/samplephoto.jpg immediately became /wp-content/uploads/07/samplephoto1.jpg . Envision uses a custom content visualizer and so any images that were linked through that portal had to manually uploaded with new file links. Another weird happenstance…..I kept deleting the theme logo and uploading and new one and nothing would appear….so, when I right-clicked on the area, it kept referencing an /uploads/07 path versus /08 but kept adding image 1-1 or 1-2, etc. So, I just renamed the actual file in the uploads/07 folder to match what the theme was looking for and it is good.

I know Allan is on vacation for a couple of weeks….so, I am not going to experiment any more. I do have two sites that were completely unaffected though so I think it must be also theme related meaning various themes must use some sort of PHP that this plugin does something funky.

    I have same problem too.

    This happened to me too!

I update the plugin on 8/31 and on 9/2, I thought my website was hacked. My home page was reset to a different page, media files gone, admin user was deleted so I couldn’t login.

I called my hosting provider to restore up my files. The first attempt was to restore to 9/1 (post-plugin update) and that didn’t work. The second backup was restored to 8/27 (pre-plugin update) – and that worked.

I left the plugin deactivated overnight. Today, I activated and updated the plugin and a few hours later… I was “hacked” again ??

@itsjustdiana when you say everything was deleted did this happen when you simply activated the plugin or after doing a specific action…..what was the prior version of the plugin you had (prior to 3.0 or after?). I need to understand these things to see what is going on since I haven’t been able to reproduce this problem on any of my servers….thanks.

For all those having this problem … could you take a screenshot of your Global Settings, Auto-Post Settings (if you use this feature) and Auto Post settings and either post links to those here or send them to hi [at] theproperweb.com? I’m helping Allen troubleshoot this issue and how your site is set will make a big difference in how it behaves.

    Thanks!

One of our partner organizations lost all of their posts last week and GoDaddy pointed to this plugin as the cause. They went through the process of a site restore and everything came back (briefly) but was lost again. They restored a second time and deactivated the plugin and the content held.

They were using a version of the plugin that was installed in early August – maybe late July. I upgraded the plugin to the latest version and reactivated and the site has been running fine for the last 24 hours.

I’m concerned that this may happen again and was hoping to find out if you had any progress in tracking down the cause.

We love the plugin because it is easy to use. We really appreciate the developer’s work on this product and hope that he is able to resolve the problem.

sorry about this…could you send a screenshot, etc. to properwp above? thanks

I’m sorry for the grief this must be causing you. This is a great product and the inconvenience that this has caused has been minor. We are grateful for your work on this. We sent screenshots to properwp and hope that this might help in solving the mystery…

Got the screenshots and thank you for doing that!

Hello – this thing happened to me again today and I’m sure I left the plugin deactivated. So maybe it’s not the plugin??

    (@amweiss98)

thanks…are you using WordFence (someone thinks that might be the real problem)? Can you post which plugins you are running so we can see if there is a conflict or something else?
