Reading the source code of the plugin [1] it seems that it only works for these versions numbers [2], in any other version this plugin does (almost) nothing so I would say that it is not needed (because it does not works) in later versions of WordPress.
It would be great if someone else can take the development of this plugin since the last time it was updated was back in “11/Dec/2012”. I understand that WordPress has its own development cycle for bug and security fixes but still there are people that would like to keep an eye in the individual changes. Using the “WordPress Nighly” [3] may work works though.
