Is this mockup possible using the tewenty ten theme?

    I’d like to know if it is possible to code the mockup in the picture below into Twenty Ten theme in a way that this would be showing in the home page. It doesn’t have to be only two categories as in the pictures but as many as I chose. If that’s something possible, I’d appreciate your help on how to achieve that result.

    I know how to style it to show something similar but I’m a newbie in terms of coding for WordPress.
