what should i use to speed it up? I tried installing wp-cache but it didnt work, any other suggestions?

Err,if wp-cache didn’t help, I do think that your HOSTING is the point. Ask them. I do think it’s okay. Or you may try this free tool to test your web loading speed. Pingdom

So,my advice is to scale down all your images to thumbnail for preview.
You might need to use gallery plugins, or resize your images before upload (800x600pixels for full resolution, 160x160pixels for preview).

It’s a nice enough looking mod of K2, but it doesn’t strike me as such a radical redesign as to warrant a separate release.

By the way, it was slow for me also.

thanks for the tip, I have realized why it is so slow to load. For my image thumbnails i use the full sized image but resize it in the html tag. If i actually resize the image, I think this will help to speed up loading…thanks for the help!

I’d have to agree with StrangeAttractor and slow to load here but it wouldn’t have loaded at all as my FF stops redirects until told otherwise and it doesn’t load JS until told either, there’s a lot of JS in the header! (Not good for SEO I believe) seems a bit heavy!

hmm thanks for the tip off about firefox, but it loads fine in firefox beta 3 on os x 10.5, what are u running?. Most of the javascript is k2, not my own doing, I think i will disable the rolling archives because i dont really like the implementation. I love lightbox however, and the live search for k2 which is all controlled via javascript. i will try to slim it down a little. How bought some tips on the actual design?

I tried it on 10.3.9 and FF 2.0.0.14, if I get chance I’ll try it with 10.4 tomorrow and see if there’s any difference, not sure why you need it to redirect to /blog? just set it up in the dashboard to go to main URL.

As for the design that’s very subjective but for me it’s easy on the eyes, nice colours and (almost : ) functional, it does what it does, and I do agree with:

As JS is restricted on my FF when I click the pics they just open on their own in the browser, sometimes usability comes first over design, as has been said before, “doesn’t matter how pretty it is if it doesn’t do what it’s supposed too!” I think the slow loading could be distracting people from the design.

I think the tags look out of place, it’s nice and tidy until you get to the bottom of the sidebar and I’d set up permalinks as it looks better.

thanks alot for the tips. I tried it on ff2 on my friends win xp machine and it loaded fine, Ill try to fix it later, but I have never had any issues with the redirect, idk. I do agree with the tags, I may remove them as the audience for my site (motocross riders) are very much not into the “blogosphere” and have prolly never even heard of a tag. I have really cut the loading time down, according to pingdom it is down to 2.9 seconds (as opposed to 7.2). I’m relatively happy with this loading time, is it still very slow on your systeM? Furthermore, I simply cannot get permalinks working. It may be something to do with my yahoo webhosting. I’m not sure and I think I will stick with the current structure because it works
