Is this a bug ???

  • Hi

    I’m having a weird problem, i’m building a site and had a temp theme on my site that only tell visitors that i’m working on it, but somehow i get comments on the first welcome post, how is that possible ??

    My dashboard now shows that i have 4 comments on a post that can not be seen or gotten to by viewing og clicking..

    Every settings on the DashBoard is set to not allow comments, and also the need of being registered to comment, but still the comments keep comming ???

    I’m running 2.9.2, and the theme is Zengard now, before it was Tempskin both by jinsona

    How is this possible ??

    Did you activate Akismet? it’s cool plugin to filters spams

    likely it’s spam bots
    load this plugin to stop them

    I don’t think that Askimet is loaded, i’ll check …

    But i still don’t understand how it’s possible to reply when settings on Dashboard doesn’t allow it, in my world that’s a bug ??

    Since you have comments disabled from the dashboard, the comments are most likely trackbacks, which have a painful way of getting into your system even when comments are disabled. I would recommend installing all three plugins mentioned in that thread once you have your blog up and running, or even now!
    Turning off Trackbacks for that post may work for now, since you really don’t need any of them either, but it is good to be able to be Track- and Ping-able once your blog is ready.

    Short story: Install the plugins, now or later, they WILL help your spam problem!
