    I don’t think I’ve seen next_post_link.

    Should be in the main index template, down near the end.

    In any case, I tried something. Essentially I went to the htacess file and re-reset permissions to 666. Then it was off to “Options-Permalinks” to click on the update button. The final step was back to my front page to try out the “previous entries” link, which worked as it should this time. Didn’t have to create a new htaccess file or anything like that.

    And so, problem solved.
