Is there any way to get WordPress to use EXIF data?
-
So any picture that I take in portrait mode is uploaded sideways. Not a big deal you say just rotate in wordpress. Well, I tried that and it’ll display the image correctly in the media library, in a gallery, or in the attachment page but it does not rotate the original image. That causes the photo to be sideways when pulled by say, Facebook. See examples here.

Original UploadNow I’ve been reading around and it sounds like the reason that the image uploads sideways is because WordPress does not and will not support EXIF data(because apparently Google, Apple, Facebook, LG, Samsung, The internet etc. etc are wrong and WordPress is right). Ok whatever but at least then allow us to rotate the photo once uploaded if that’s what your stance.
I also tried rotating the image in Microsoft Paint as recommended to me in another thread. Well guess what Paint (Paint!!!!) displays the image in the correct orientation already.
So my question is, is there a plugin or something I can install that will allow my photos to either be uploaded in the correct orientation or rotated into the proper rotation after upload? Barring that can you recommend an application that can remove exif data and rotate images in bulk?
Please help me. I feel like WordPress is conspiring to cause me to look like an ametuer after spending hours writing and editing my posts by turning my photos sideways(Or maybe they’re trying to get me to smash my laptop). I’ve probably spent more time researching and attempting how to fix how my photos are uploaded and displayed as I have writing posts at this point. IT SHOULDN’T BE THIS DIFFICULT. All I want are form my photos to be displayed how they were taken like anywhere else. If I can’t find a decent solution I’m going to have to consider switching blogging platforms, God knows what kind of headache that might cause. I’ll certainly be taking less portrait photos, lol.
Thanks.
