I bought Vault last year and used 3,000 Mb of 5 gigabites, so I’m not keen to pay $175 again. Is there any free storage of backups with the free version?

    Hi ConsiderThis1,

I don’t completely follow – if you used most of the storage space you paid for during the year (3 out of 5 gigabytes), then that sounds like something positive? (N.B. 5 gigabytes is $35/year – https://updraftplus.com/shop/updraftplus-vault-storage-5-gb/).

Anyway, yes – the free version of UpdraftPlus includes support for Dropbox, Google Drive and Amazon S3, all of which provide free tiers.

I thought megabytes were smaller than gigabytes… no?

right… I bought 50 gigabytes… hence $175 for vault. That was based on a rather off the mark estimate by my hosting company. I really use 3515 Megabytes…

    Hi David,
I remain unclear. Does Updraft provide ANY free storage of backups.

Also, it is true that megabytes are smaller than gigabytes, right???

It would have been nice if someone had alerted me that I was using only 3500 megabytes of 50 gigabytes, and offered me a refund and some instruction…

    Hi Karen,

Updraft doesn’t provide any of their own storage for free. But, as David answered previously:

the free version of UpdraftPlus includes support for Dropbox, Google Drive and Amazon S3, all of which provide free tiers.

You can connect your Updraft plugin with any of the above third-party services from within the ‘Settings’ tab in the Updraft ‘Backup/Restore’ settings page.

Yes, Megabytes are smaller than Gigabytes – 1 Gigabyte is 1000 Megabytes.

It’s not really Updraft/Vault storage’s responsibility to tell you that you’re not using all of the storage space that you purchased and you should really take this up with your hosting company as they’ve clearly misadvised you about your backup storage requirements.

In the Updraft ‘Backup/Restore’ page under ‘Existing Backups’ you can see how much storage space is being used by your existing backups and, depending on the number of backups you have stored, you should be able to calculate your backup storage requirements.

Selling me 50 gigabytes when I needed 3.5 simply does not speak to integrity.
