Generally speaking you should keep your WordPress installation up to date including plugins. The risk is that you will miss an update that is security related.

But sometimes updates can have unintended side effects and your best defense against that is to keep and maintain good backups off of your web server.

In the event of anything bad happening to your site (or your clients site) that back up will save you lots of hours of work.

That’s really a bad idea. Some of those updates really are “Upgrade now or lose everything!

Consider getting your client to be trained on the proper care and maintenance of their web site. If they are unwilling to do that then I suggest you recommend they move to a managed service (read as “paid service”) that will perform the maintenance for them.

    Thanks Jan Dembowski,
And can we lost the changes in the plugin that we made if we update the plugin?
