Is there any reason the Lite plugin would remove a versioned folder
-
I migrated a website from one server to another, with both copies of the site using the Lite version of this plugin to offload to the same bucket.
Today, I noticed that at least 100 images are missing on some older posts on my website.
When searching for these files using the AWS CLI, I can’t find them anywhere in my S3 bucket, nor can I find them on each site’s local server.
On both sites, Object Versioning is turned on in the plugin’s settings.
I can see the missing files in the Media Library database on the old version of the site. There is a database record, but the S3 file path it’s pointed to returns a 404 error. When looking at my S3 bucket, the bucket path with the timestamp does not exist.
Weirdly, when looking at the current live site, the missing images are not in the Media Library, despite having been old enough that they would have been included in the DB when I migrated the site.
Because I don’t have versioning turned on in my S3 bucket, I can’t find the history of these missing files, or whether they ever existed in the bucket.
So my question is, is there any setting or functionality of this plugin that I’m not aware of that would remove files or folders? I assumed only the Pro plugin offered any functionality to delete the files off the S3 bucket, but if that’s not the case, I want to figure out under what conditions the Lite version would attempt to remove files from the S3 bucket (such as if a record doesn’t exist in the as3cf_items table?)
Basically, I’m trying to rule out if my missing images conundrum could have been caused by this plugin, or if it’s more likely that something else happened.
TL;DR: Does the Lite version of this plugin have the ability to remove folders/files from my S3 bucket? If so, what can trigger that?
