I turned off Matomo when I upgraded WordPress to 6.5, and the message in the plug-in list when I look for more details is that the plug-in “has not been tested with your current version of WordPress”. I would really like to restart the analytics, and really don’t want to use Google, but I have searched various support areas and have not found an answer. I see an “On Premise” solution on the Matomo site, but I don’t really understand it, what sort of account I would need to implement it, and what cost (if any) would be involved to get information equivalent to what I was seeing in the Matomo dashboard with the active WordPress plug-in.

Hi @sallijane, the latest version of this plugin is compatible with WordPress 6.5.0. There will be a new release eventually with the update that tells WordPress it is compatible with 6.5.0, but you shouldn’t have to wait for it.

Our automated tests run with the latest, unreleased WordPress code, so we can catch any issues before a WordPress core update is made, and we haven’t seen problems.

The only exception to this is if an update to another plugin you use causes a conflict with Matomo, but in this case we’d be glad to work with you to find the root cause and a solution.

This isn’t super important, but just to clarify, regarding “on-premise” Matomo: “on-premise” is an enterprise term for a non-cloud hosted version of Matomo. It’s hosting the Matomo product on its own, outside of WordPress (which is originally how the product was used). “Matomo for WordPress” is a similar product to “Matomo”, it just puts the entire Matomo solution inside a WordPress plugin. They’re basically the same product. I hope that explanation makes sense, but I’m happy to answer further questions if not.

Hi @sallijane, version 5.0.6 has just been released, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. If you have any other questions or need help with anything else, please feel free to create a new issue.
