I’m trying to expand my use of your Tag Groups plugin to the NextGEN Gallery tags. ngg_tag taxonomy appears on your Settings page along with your warning that some taxonomies will not work. I am just verifying if there is a method to make the plugin work with NG Gallery. NextGEN offers no help and refers me on to you.

    Thanks Chris

  • I don’t know NextGEN Gallery. So have you tried that new taxonomy? What happens?

    Thanks for the reply Chris.
I have written a large number of tags via the NextGEN gallery window when editing the photos. It is acting as if it is unrelated to the WP tag system though the NextGEN developer says that they base their tag system on the underlying WP system. Under your Tag Groups Settings–Basics–Taxonomies I have four listed taxonomies, category,post-tag,post-format and ngg-tag. I have deselected all but the ngg-tag in an attempt to get rid of potential confusion. The ngg tags won’t show up in the main tag area where I would have the opportunity to group them via your plugin. It would be very beneficial to be able to have the tags grouped for my customers when searching our photographs. Thanks for your help.

So you created groups and then at the URL …/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=ngg_tag (or similar) you don’t see the gallery tags?

Going to https://direys.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=ngg-tag it returns a response of “Invalid Taxonomy”.

I have created about 12 groups. On the WP Tags page where I would normally apply them to groups, none of the NG tags show up. My normal WP tags are there but they are not tied to the images in NG so it does not good to group them. In the “manage tags” section of NG there is not option for applying the tags to groups.

Your NG tags should be separate from the usual tags. Have you tried https://direys.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=ngg_tag – with underscore?

Ah! There’s the head slap. Thank you kind sir. I’ll make a button for my browser since I don’t know how to make one on the WP Admin screen and will forever clearly specify underscores from dashes! It works wonderfully. Our NextGEN photos are now organized by tags neatly compiled within our custom tag groups headings.

    ??

    Good to hear that.
