Hi everyone, this might be a stupid question but I wasn’t able to figure it out..

Is there a way to upload a folder containing multiple files as a downloadable product? I don’t want to add the files one by one as there are quite a few of them and uploading them as a zip doesn’t work because people need to open them on their phones and it seems like zip doesn’t work on most phones.

I just want to upload a folder as a downloadable product so when people purchase they can open the folder on their phones and download each file. Is this possible and how?

    thanks!

    Hi @katerila,

There’s no such thing as a stupid question. ??

If I understand, your downloadable product should give people access to multiple files. Your ideal situation would be to give customers access to a folder with all the files in it. Unfortunately WooCommerce / WordPress won’t work that way, at least out of the box. The way the media library works in WooCommerce doesn’t let you upload a folder, and downloadable product wants you to add a file from the media library. The good news is that you can upload multiple files at once in WordPress, and then a downloadable product lets you set multiple files on it.

The bulk upload helps somewhat, but I understand it’s still a pain to add each downloadable file one by one to your product. I think one upside to this is that a customer can choose what specific file they’d like to download rather than viewing a folder and trying to download the file there. It’s much easier to grab a download from the My Account page.

Just to add to Ryan’s reply, you can also look into using a plugin like Amazon S3 Storage

The Amazon S3 extension for WooCommerce supports multiple buckets within one product so you can easily provide download access to files stored on different Amazon buckets when purchasing one product.
