• I happen to have a readme.html page on my domain. Every time i update wordpress, it overwrites that file. I have to remember to upload my readme file again every single time and it’s kind of annoying.

Is there a way to stop this from happening? I’ve never once needed the wordpress readme file.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Sure, you can just rename readme.html to readme-keep.html or anything you like so when you upgrade your WP it wont overwrite it.

Thanks for the response. You’re saying i should rename my existing readme.html to something else? But what about all the incoming links?

Use a rewrite rule in .htaccess to rewrite readme.html to readme-keep.html

    So the answer is no?

I appreciate the workaround suggestions, but i can’t believe there’s no direct way to do such a simple thing.
