• Browse happy button prevents my website from looking professional.
Is there a way to remove it?
Messing with the code is very complicated. This button is tangled into the functions.

  • there’s a recent plugin that does this,
you WILL need to check some of the other threads for it, however theres also this:

    charle97, is it a joke?
    Would this code work?

I do not like firefox, because it forces you to download google toolbar. This is the way this crapy program, made on a stovetop makes money.

Explorer would match MS windows better then anything.

What code can I remove manually?

that works. and if you look at the link I provided, it does EXACTLY the same thing.

Read Cypher’s reply in the link above.

Confuscious say, “Sometimes you have to read to find answers.”

And im sorry for going Off topic, but I have NEVER had to download the Google toolbar to install Firefox. Thats utter tripe.

Microsoft makes zombies out of once-functioning humans, and while I too, removed the browse-happy code a long time ago, ANYTHING is an improvement over that piece of crap called Explorer.

Lastly, upgrade your blog to 2.1.3, or the hacking you speak of within it, may very well come true.

“We have a security update release now available for both the 2.1 and 2.0 branches of WordPress now available for immediate download. This update is highly recommend for all users of both branches.”

    explorer is professional software
it would not have security holes unless someone left them on purpose, which might be true

i do not trust any of two explorers

i tried instqalling mozilla, i suspect that it spoiled my i explorer, and now i have problem with typing russian in i explorer…

wp is a nice thing, but why do I have to increase the size of my site to get rid of some of it’s functions?

just to note…you only have to download google toolbar with firefox, if you download firefox using the google updater/google pack…

and even then, you can remove it in the extensions section…

I know this is an old topic but I thought I’d mention that you can edit where the button takes you in template.php in wp-admin/includes

I usually just make it return back to my websites homepage and change the image to the logo of my site.

Either way you edit the file, you will have to re-edit it every time there is an update. I just remove the whole function call, which is several lines of code. I keep a record of file edits, so I know what’s what after an upgrade.

In this particular case, the benefit is to reduce the overall speed of the site – yes, this particular edit is only worth a millisecond or 2, but it all adds up.

I also am one of those die-hard IE users. I use Firefox, as well as Opera and Netscape to check the code I write when designing sites, but I use IE7 as my daily driver. I’ve never had a problem with hackers or any other security issue in the 15 years I’ve used computers because I practice safe computing and Internet habits.

Anyway, thanks for the tip on how to get rid of this waste of Ether on me.

Jim with 1 Foot in the Grave

whenever there is an update I change over only the files that are in the changelog of the update.

Most of my admin panel is custom branded so this prevents it from being overwritten. when it comes to one I have edited I just cop the code over.

Browse “Happy” just pissed me off. After upgrading it’s back again. Why do I need to be spammed with this crap that slows down my every page load?

The good part is how laughable their website is:
Currently the number one item for “Why is internet explorer Unsafe” is….
“Ms. Sandlin is so devoted to [Firefox] that she has taped a note to her monitor warning guests not to click on the desktop shortcut to Internet Explorer. Do not touch the blue ‘E!’ the note says.”

    Wow that’s impressive stuff!!
…. I just taped a note to my monitor that says “DO NOT Upload CRAP from WordPress”
