Is there a way to give categories custom fields, or custom info beside desc?

I’m creating my own custom taxonomy for a client that will hold movie titles. What I want to do is give each category it’s own data, so they can enter stuff like director, actors, etc, and it will be attributed to the whole category and not just one post. Is this possible? I know you can write a description, but I was hoping I could have more control over it so I can pull out the specific data I want when I need to use it in different areas of the page.
