Hi! The filtering extension has saved my life – it really works. I was wondering if there is a way to filter out a word? Like, I want my output table to include rows that have “word1” but that do NOT include “word2″… is there a way to do that?

    Thanks!

    Hi Linda,

    thanks for the question.

Unfortunately, I have to disappoint you again ?? The Filtering Extension can only do “include” filtering, at this time. I do have plans and ideas to make it support things like NOT and the combination of OR and AND, but unfortunately, that’s turned out to be way more tricky than I had thought. ??

A (hopefully not too tedious) workaround could be to add another (hidden) column to the table, where you manually add a unique keyword, like “word1-not-word2” and then use that for the filtering. That will of course only work if there’s not too many combinations of possible “word1″s and “word2″s.

    Regards
    Tobias

Thanks Tobias. Don’t worry, you have never disappointed me! I had thought about that very same workaround and it’s working out fine. If you do update the extension, I’ll be very pleased!

    Cheers,
    Linda

    Hi Linda,

good to hear that the workaround works for you for now ??
And I’ll definitely post in the news on the TablePress website and on Twitter once I get around to improving the Filtering Extension!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
