• I have an idea for a plugin, but for the plugin to work I need one information, which is:

    – Popularity (how popular the blog is)

And I’m looking for a straightforward way.

The best information I could have is the visitor numbers, but I’m guessing there may not be a way to get those or is there? If yes, how?

Another way of measuring the popularity of a blog could be by counting its comments, a blog with many comments obviously tends to be popular provided those comments are not spam. What would be a straightforward way to measure those?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

If it’s not possible to get the visitor count, perhaps I could:

    – count the number of articles
    – measure the time between the first article and the last article (a bigger time frame means an older blog which CAN hint towards a more popular blog, especially if it’s combined with a high number of articles)
    – take the sum of all comments (high sum = popular)

And that all together would be my popularity formula?
