is there a simple way of removing author and tags from posts?

Hi there,
Is there a simple way of removing author and tags which appear under title in each of my posts? I had a look at the forum topic from a year ago and it suggests adding some words to CSS. I would be too afraid to add it. Where do I add it for example? at the top? at the bottom?Is there a simple way of doing it. I don’t mind doing it manually every time… I don’t want to mess around with CSS files since I am not very familiar with all the computer lingo.
