I’m a Web Developer who spends most of my day in WordPress. Should I get a PHP Certification to improve my knowledge of WordPress or do you think that won’t help much? Is there a PHP Certification just for WordPress?

I have a Lynda.com account I use for learning and had a WPMU DEV account a while ago I used to do courses on WordPress. What more can I do to expand my knowledge? There is still so much I don’t know.

There may be, though there’s nothing endorsed or supported by the WordPress community.

The best way to learn is to do. For example, download a copy of _s at https://underscores.me and make your own theme.

Is There a PHP Certification for WordPress?

Dear GNU, I hope not. Certification in the scope of any opensource project like WordPress is just more gamification. Enough subject areas have been ruined enough as it is. ??

    I hope not also.
What I found works is : learn by teaching. Try answering forum questions and you’ll learn a lot. Try fixing WordPress bugs and you’ll learn even more.
Having to explain how something works means you have to know it well first, so that’s the best way to make it happen.

Structured learning helps me the best. WordPress codex isn’t structured learning – it’s as needed snippets. Some people are good as self teaching and others need a lending hand. Oh well. Closing this question. Thanks for the input.
