• If you visit this site and scroll down to “Sustainability and resilience,” you’ll see two examples where hyperlinked text has no space between the hyperlink and the preceding or next regular word. This problem has also occurred in random places with text that was styled with strong or em. I have in many places put in double spaces or an nbsp to overcompensate for this problem, but the fact is, it was correct in my copy to begin with, but some plugin – and I haven’t found which one yet – is rendering my site with incorrect HTML and the spaces are disappearing for this to happen.

The same problem is also manifesting in random places on my other site on my WPMU – bigcitylittlehomestead.ca

I do have Health Check so I can use Troubleshooting mode if no one else has seen this before, but I would appreciate some guidance

  • If you have control over your mysql database, you can do this directly in DB instead of looking for a plugin.

Make sure to take a backup of your DB before trying this.

@@janerette; the paragraph under “Sustainability and resilience” seems OK now, I see you added those ‘s. can you by any chance provide (an)other example(s)?

projectica.org has 5 pages, and I might not have managed to get every one of them.

It also has several posts that you can click through if you visit the link for PetTinder (that post, next post, previous post)

and projectica.org/shop has a few products, and though I combed through the ones pertaining to the Chronograph, an older product might have the bold, em, or a link displaying the wonky behavioru.

Plus, on Bigcitylittlehomestead.ca you will definitely see the effect if you click around a bit ??

clicked around Bigcitylittlehomestead.ca, no success yet I’m afraid?? :-/

You are right! Wow, that is the strangest thing. Now I’m working on a different computer, I just went to my heaviest link- and bolded-text entry “Rewilding” at the top level menu – and it looks normal.

I’ve also clicked around more on Projectica and haven’t noticed the word-merge happening, either.

So before I close this, I’ll take it home and remove a few non-breaking spaces I had inserted, to see if the problem reappears.

Today I changed some plugins. I removed Loginizer (but I’d been using that a long time, I don’t think it caused the problem) and installed iThemes Security. Perhaps, since it was yesterday I deactivated it, the cause of the word-merge was Webcraftic Clearfy. I also turned off CloudFlare yesterday but that should not have affected CSS.

I am still running Autoptimize, WP SuperCache, and a whole bunch of those listed above. I’m trying to optimize speed, I have many others that aren’t activated bc I turned them off or was waiting to see how others affected my speed. Some of them just aren’t registering as being effective. :-/

    ??
