    Hi

    https://www.thegasfitter.co.uk/central-heating-services-2

I trashed the post central heating services but then created another one of the same name.

I have tried going in and editing the permalink by removing the number 2 but once the page is published it reverts back to the 2 again.

A wootheme ninja in the support forum suggest there is a bug with the trash function. Who do I report it to or what can I do??

  • This happens in WordPress 3.0 with a custom post type as well exactly as others have noted. Tried emptying the trash and their are no revisions enabled for this custom post type. Hopefully someone solves this one, other than starting from scratch. I did a search in all tables in the database and it only fiends “name2” rather than “name”.

[Resolved] 1 ) Make sure you delete the original article first and when in your post or custom post type at the top where it says Trash(1) empty your trash. This has been mentioned before.

What was not mentioned was after changing the url from “name2” to “name” do not click “update” you must first click “ok” to commit the permalink change, then click “update”. Problem solved and tested in WordPress 3.0b2.

    Hi all,

I had the same problem (in my case it was impressum vs. impressum-2) and solved it this way:

    1. Took a look with phpmyadmin on the DB my WordPress (2.9.2) is using
    2. Open the wp_posts table
    3. Delete all entries of my buggy page. Look out for the post/page title in the post_title row.

    That’s it.

    Cheers,
    Robert

Go to the Posts or Pages section of your admin panel, select “Trash” near the top (will only appear if posts or pages are in the trash) and click the “Empty Trash” button.

    found it, my bad
