First off I’m new here, so if this isn’t the appropriate place to ask this question then I would appreciate it if someone could possibly point me that way.

I am helping out a friend who has a web page that uses WordPress. We are trying to see if there is a way to use Excel spreadsheets on their page. We have a sheet that has user controls and associated VBA on it that we would like to have filled out by clients, and another separate sheet where we import data from that worksheet.

I dont think there are free plugins that lets you work on excel files. There are only table plugins that lets you filter/change data, like this one:

Would there be plug-ins that aren’t free that could do that? I’m trying to find out through web searches, but being new to to this area makes it difficult to get the right info.

My initial thinking was to simply host the Excel document online (using Excel for the web), and embed it in your WordPress page.

But apparently, you can’t create, run, or edit VBA macros in Excel for the web. Instead, Excel on the Web uses something called Office Script.

I can deal with using web Excel and using Office Script in place of VBA. I don’t necessarily need to have controls – I want to use radio buttons, but there’s a way to ‘simulate’ them. I’ve done it in Google sheets using their script, so I’m pretty sure I could do the same thing with web Excel and Office Script.

What I don’t understand is, if you embed a workbook, is it editable? We want to have clients log in and answer questions on a sheet in one workbook (that would be the only worksheet in that workbook). We then want to be able to import the sheet they fill out into another workbook, which has multiple sheets in it and formulas that calculate values based on the imported sheet.
