Is There ‘404 Spam’?

    I am using WordPress for my blog. Checking my 404s, I see a number of strange entries requesting pages I know don’t exist. Tracking the IP, I find most originate in China. Here is an example 404:

    [ Redacted ]

    Is this something about which I should worry? Is there a defense to this?

    It’s not SPAM as such. It’s bots checking your site to see if it’s vunerable to whatever security holes that they know about. As long as you keep everything updated and use secure passwords you should be fine.
