I try to keep everything on my site GPL because I do a lot of hacking (no redistribution). Is the Pro version GPL?

Our PRO plugin should not be considered as GPL and attempts to hack proprietary systems are not permitted. Given the nature of the question within WP’s terms and conditions, however, it is necessary for us to clarify what that means to the best of our ability. All plugin derivative work inherits the WordPress GNU/GPLv2 license to the extent it may be deemed as derivative work (ie. the code is dependent upon WordPress). As far as modification and usability rights are concerned, WordPress plugin repository hosted plugins extend that license. Paid plugins, including the PRO plugin, which is a separate plugin and not a derivative version of the free plugin nor hosted by this repository page, do not reside on the WP plugin repository because they include proprietary code or service-level support which may not be considered derivative. The PRO plugin will not operate without a purchased license on the Arcane store and should not be considered GPL as a result. While the plugin’s WP derivative code inherit the GPL license to allow for a presentation layer for UI control, the functional layer of Arcane’s merchant services with Stripe are proprietary systems and the underlying codebase is not available for alterations.
