First and foremost I want to give props to the Elementor team for writing such an amazing prugin.
I’d like to write my own enhancements as well and have been waiting for this but I worry it’s got too much hype and won’t really provide the capabilities we are looking for to write well polished addons that will last through the sands of time =)
Also not knowing what is planned on the horizon makes me hesitant to want to write anything. For example, I had high hopes for writing a live custom CSS addon but that was foiled when I saw it included in pro only to find it’s still limited and not really as granular as I would have set out to create myself. Also no beta to arrive at that conclusion before making the investment in pro. So that was kind of a let down. I don’t want to have to leave the Elementor page designer to write css resulting in a lot of back and forth between different editing environments. That is my current productivity killer. I’d love to address this sooner than later but should I wait patiently for the API? I’d really appreciate knowing.
What if the API doesn’t allow us into the inner workings of this plugins core functions? For all we know the API could be a very basic front end querying framework. I purchased pro in hopes we might get a little more info early on but we are still in the dark API-wise with no preview of what to anticipate.
Elementor team, please take this as constructive feedback for an awesome plugin but I think these are valid concerns from an open source community and yes ultimately it’s your baby and you get to choose how much you share with us but consider that the lack of information may result in some of us ultimately losing interest.
Would you consider creating a developer group or private forum for discussing these things?
