    Hi there,

I’m looking at the code of the plugin and it looks a lot like it is using a WordPress user to create a new MailChimp subscriber. Is this correct, or am I just looking at a special case?

I did some quick tests and it seems like I can subscribe when I’m logged in and go through the checkout but can’t when I’m not. This seems to confirm my impression, but could be a coincidence.

In other words: should it possible to subscribe during a guest checkout?

    Thanks,

    Simon

  • Hey there @simooo

It should be possible to transmit order data to MailChimp just as long as an email address has been provided. If an email address is not provided during guest checkout, that order data will not be sent to MailChimp. I hope that answers your question, but if it does not, please feel free to reply back with a
bit of clarification about the exact workflow being taken and I’ll do my best to help.

    Thanks!

    Hi Pearl,

Thanks for your reply. I just want to make sure we’re talking about the same thing here. The thing I was focusing on here was adding a new subscriber to a MailChimp list, setting aside orders for the moment.

Are you able to confirm that an email address can be subscribed at checkout without a WordPress user being created?

    Thanks!

    Simon

    Hi @simooo,

As long as an email address is provided during checkout, it should be possible for that email address to make it over to MailChimp using this plugin. Ultimately they should not be prompted to create any sort of WordPress account. Hope that helps! If you are seeing something other than that happen on your end, I would reach out to the MailChimp support team with a copy of your WooCommerce System Status Report, a detailed customer workflow so they can attempt to replicate the behavior, and a link to this forum post to allow them to take a closer look at the API calls coming in.

    Warm Regards,

    Pearl

Thanks for clarifying! Seems something else must be awry with my setup then.
