    First: great plugin!

Question: does anything nasty happen, if I just start using staging site as main site? My plan is to:
    1) make alterations I want to staging site (subfolder)
    2) delete my current main site in root after everything works fine in staging site
    3) redirect traffic to staging site

Does this work? Or is the original site needed to make staging site work / retain its full WP functionality?

    Hi Hahmo,

this should be working fine except the fact that the staging website contains a entry in the database which makes WP Staging aware that the site is a staging site. So no access is allowed to non-administrators and the admin bar is showing the word STAGING

To get rid of this you have to the change in the table stagingprefix_wp_options the entry wpstg_is_staging_site to false.

Thanks Rene – made some experiments before your answer: not sure, but I think that ticking the Remove Data on Uninstall box (in settings) and then deleting the plugin also severs ties between the original site and the staging site.

Yes Hahmo, this does the trick much simpler than i advised. Deinstallation of WP Staging iuncluding ticking this Uninstall box removes all plugin settings including this table option.

This was so obvious that i did not see it when answering you.

However your attempt of creating different alterations of your site and to move the root path of your domain instead coping back all the changes is very creative and i like it very much.
