• Hello, I’ve built a site for a client on WordPress 2.6.2, and now the magical 2.7 is out.

2.6.2 is running excellent. I wrote a lot of custom code for it so upgrading to 2.7 will be complicated.

The main question is, is 2.6.2 still safe, and will it continue to be supported for security issues? Do I need to upgrade to 2.7?

    Thankyou very much.

    Might want to read this.

will it continue to be supported for security issues?

Short answer – no. The only version of WordPress that is supported, aside from the current 2.7, is the Legacy 2.0 Branch of which 2.0.11 is the latest.

Thanks LenK. Is there any spot I can check that will notify me if 2.6.3 becomes unsafe?

    2.6.3 is already unsafe.

thats why 2.6.5 was released. this is all covered on the official blog.

You may want to upgrade ASAP. Too many people don’t take this seriously enough. I’ve been monitoring my logs out of curiosity for some time and there have been attempted attacks against my site from hundreds of domains.
