• Hi, I am a bit confused about Schema. Does Yoast SEO make everything about Schema? Should I delete the itemtypes that my WordPress theme has such as vcard, itemtype, dateTime. I will be grateful if you help me, thanks a lot.

We understand that you will like to adjust the schema to your content. Since Yoast SEO 11.0, the plugin offers a vastly improved output of the schema data the plugin already generated before. It now connects all the separate sets of schema data together which makes it much easier for search engines to understand. You can read more about this?here?and?here.

Yoast SEO plugin uses JSON-LD to add information about your?site search, your site name, your?logo?and your?social profiles?to your web pages. You can find all the types of structured data that Yoast SEO premium can currently add to your site here:?https://developer.yoast.com/schema-documentation/yoast-seo/.

Please note, Yoast SEO plugin will add the Schema markups automatically and there is any field to fill in. So, you’ll not see those in your plugin as they are outputted in your site source code. You can verify which schema data are outputted submitted a page URL on this tool. Also, you can find all the Schema markups our plugins output in this page:?https://developer.yoast.com/schema-documentation/

If your theme or other installed plugin adds schema via itemType, etc it’s likely that duplicate schema will be outputted which might affect SEO. In such case, we would recommend removing the ones that are being outputted from the theme/plugin.

Thanks a lot for your help, I appreciate it. I removed the schema that my theme added but should I remove microformats that were added by theme such as fn, vcard too?

    Hi @hypasos

While we can’t exactly confirm the structured data from the microformat, you may want to check on the output from our Yoast SEO plugin and ensure there aren’t any duplicates or conflicts to the data – https://developer.yoast.com/features/schema/plugins/yoast-seo

We also have integration guidelines should other themes and plugins output their own set of structured data and ensure it doesn’t cause any issues with the Yoast SEO schema output – https://developer.yoast.com/features/schema/integration-guidelines

We also recommend that you test out your pages and posts on Google’s Rich Results tool so you have an idea if your website’s pages and posts are eligible to output as rich results or if there are any warnings or errors that need to be addressed – https://search.google.com/test/rich-results
