I’m using the latest version of WooCommerce, are its login and lost password forms protected by JetPack? If so does that mean the reCaptcha plugin I’m currently using is redundant and I can remove it?

How do I know which forms/pages JetPack is protecting?
The configuration page provides zero options (except whitelisting) so what is this protection actually doing?
How many times can a user attempt to login?
Is the protection only triggered when the input is from a bot?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Jetpack’s Protect module protects the default WordPress log in form, as well the XML-RPC file on your site.
Custom forms created with other plugins are not protected.

Once you activate the module, all log in attempts are checked, regardless of how they’re executed. If a specific IP fails to log in more than a few times in a row, it gets flagged, and that IP address will then see a math problem below the log in form, on all sites running Jetpack Protect.
If that IP address keeps trying, or hits a site running Protect many times in a short period of time, it will get completely blocked, and won’t even be able to get to the log in form anymore. Instead, if will get a 403 error page.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

    Hello,

Why not let us add recaptcha to jetpack contact form ?

I feel stupid to use another contact form plugin when jetpack is already doing it, but I get too much spam through jetpack contact form.

    Any help ?

    Thanks.

@makeonlineshop We didn’t implement that option as the Jetpack contact forms can already be protected without having to go through a Captcha, thanks to the Akismet plugin.

If you’d like to add a Captcha to the contact form anyway, I’m afraid the plugin I suggested in the other thread is the only way to do this at the moment:

    Hello,

Thank you, but there is no specific option to protect the Jetpack contact form ? Akismet should do it automatically ? Because it doesn’t !

I get lots of spam from the contact form even when Askismet is activated.

And I do not want to let Akismet works silently, I want to know every time the contact form is used, so it means that I must get an Email notification for every spam that I receive ? With a good Captcha no bots would be able to use the contact form.

    Thanks for your confirmation.

Akismet should indeed do this automatically, as long as you’ve configured the plugin under Jetpack > Akismet in your dashboard.

If Akismet lets some spam through the contact form, you can contact us through this form with some examples, we’ll take a closer look:

I want to know every time the contact form is used, so it means that I must get an Email notification for every spam that I receive ?

While Jetpack doesn’t send an email out when a contact form submission is marked as spam, the submission is still saved and available under the Feedback menu in your dashboard, in the “Spam” tab, pretty much like for comments.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

Sorry again but i do not see any option to configure anything.

    Jetpack > Akismet in dashboard:
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=akismet-key-config

    Only stats and:

    Comments
Show the number of approved comments beside each comment author

    Strictness Akismet anti-spam strictness
Silently discard the worst and most pervasive spam so I never see it.

Always put spam in the Spam folder for review.

    Nothing about contact form.

So if I understand well my only solution is to send an Email to https://akismet.com/contact to inform about the spam that I get.

Or buy the only captcha plugin that protect everything with recaptcha.

    Thank you for everything.

    Jetpack > Akismet in dashboard:
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=akismet-key-config

That’s the page indeed. You won’t find an option to customize the contact form either; you’ll only need to configure the plugin by adding an API key to make sure it’s active.

So if I understand well my only solution is to send an Email to https://akismet.com/contact to inform about the spam that I get.

    That’s correct.
