Is P2P the best option for me?
-
Hi Scribu.
I am a graphic designer who has been tasked with creating a multi-dimensional site for one of my clients.
It has to be broken down by City (about 5 cities right now), with various main categories of interest (for example, everyday post, finds throughout the city, happenings in each city, places to see, etc), you get the idea. And in some cases, there will be sub categories within some of these main categories as well, for example in the everyday post section, it might have sub categories such as fashion, food, home decor, etc.
As you can imagine, there will be a lot of cross pollination, for example there could be a post for one that might also be appropriate for other cities or possibly all cities adn for that matter, even post that might be relevant to another category or sub category.
I started out thinking that I would create custom post types and custom taxonomies using Pippins plugin and then I ran across your P2P and thought it might be of value in my situation.
Where I am confused is what would be the difference or benefit between using the custom post types with custom taxonomies and custom queries for postings or using your P2P plugin and which would be better long term when there will be several thousand posts, many categories incorporated with the potential for a lot of cross or combined references.
To be clear, I am much more of a designer than a coder, but I am trying and I know this is a huge undertaking on my part, maybe more than I can manage, but I have to try.
I just want to take it a step at the time, but I obviously need to get each step right. It just seems there are so many ways to achieve everything within the wordpress platform with regard to coding and plugins, it makes it hard for someone like myself trying to learn to utilize the best tools and approach for the projects.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
