Is Nextgen gallery PHP7 compatible ?

I ran plugin ‘PHP Compatibility Checker’ and determined that both

    -Nextgen Gallery Optimizer
    -Nextgen Plus by Photocratic..

    are PHP7 compatible.

However, I could not determine this with Nextgen gallery because the plugin is too big – a message provided by the plugin.

I have the same issue. Want to upgrade to PHP 7.0 and used PHP Compatibility Checker plugin but it fails on NextGEN Gallery with message “The plugin/theme was skipped as it was too large to scan before the server killed the process.”

Although there may be some warning that will be logged to the best of our knowledge we are not aware of anything under PHP 7.0.x that will break in NextGEN Gallery.

If you find something you specifically would like addressed we will take it into consideration, please also create a new topic specific to your site(s).

    Thanks!

    I have the same issue.

Did osser and spephg40122 upgrade to php 7.0 and if so were any issues encountered?

    Thank you.

We didn’t upgrade to PHP7 due to the unknown NextGen plug-in.

Sorry @imagely I didn’t realise I needed my own topic because I was hitting the same issue as @stephg40122 and @ossser with NextGEN Gallery.

I’m a novice and I gathered from the instructions that I should first of all look to see if my question had already been raised and I found this post.

I don’t yet have an issue on my site. NextGEN Gallery is running ok but I’ve been advised (by Yoast SEO) that the version of PHP running on my website is no longer supported and that I should upgrade to either 5.6, 7.0 or 7.1.

I want to avoid getting an issue by checking to see if my plugins support php 7.0 before asking my hosting provider to upgrade php. To do this I used the PHP Compatibility Checker plugin (same method as @osser and @stephg40122) and hit the same potential issue as them.

Our PHP 7.0.x compatibility is fine as far as we are seeing with all of our testing.

Thank you @imagely for your reply.
I’ll post the results here when its done.

    Hello-

I have been using NextGen Gallery for many years.

Recently the web server administrator upgraded to PHP 7 (from I believe PHP 5.6).

I now notice that manually modifying the thumbnails using the ‘edit thumb’ feature no longer works (it appears in the administrative interface that the thumbnails change, but in the public gallery they stay as the default and absolutely won’t change).

I also noticed that specifying ‘nggalllery=# template=caption’ no longer seems to have any effect – I don’t get captions anymore appearing below the thumbnails.

I updated the NextGen Gallery plugin to 2.2.12, with no change.

These two features still work on an identical account still running PHP 5.6.

Please let me know if you can fix these issues with PHP 7.

    @mikehuangsd – Thanks for following-up.

When I enable NextGEN Gallery Version 2.2.14 on a WP install running on Ubuntu with PHP7 [PHP 7.0.22-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 (cli) ( NTS )] – trying to create Posts in WP throws a “Call to undefined function split()” error.
