Is monthly calendar supposed to be empty?

    Hello,

    Yes, the event information is supposed to show up in tooltips, not on the grid itself.

    By default, the days without events should be “greyed out”, making those with events obvious. However, your theme may be overriding the CSS that does this.

    To get the next / previous month links to show up, make sure you have the type parameter of the [google-calendar-events] shortcode set to ajax, like this:
